AMERICAN MARTYRS CATHOLIC FAITH FORMATION NEWS  - CATECHISTS NEEDED - We are in need of an extra catechist for 8th grade  (Wed., from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.) and one for 11th grade (6:30 to 8:00 on 2 Sundays a month.) for this 2010-2011 school year.   Please pray for responses to our needs.   CATHOLIC FAITH FORMATION REGISTRATION will be held after all Masses this  weekend of August 28 & 29th and again September 4 & 5th in Fr. SEWERS & EMBROIDERY people needed to sew together baptismal bibs.  Also to do some embroidery on the front of the bibs .  If you are interested in helping with this ministry, please call the rectory office, 774-0630. 

 

Our Food Pantry needs replenishing.  Items needed are soups, jellies, cereal, boxed dinners, and paper products.  Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

 

 

 

 

CARMELITE SILVER TEAPlease help to make the Annual Silver Tea at the Carmelite Monastery a great success for our dear nuns.  The Tea will be held September 18th & 19th from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. RAFFLE TICKETS are on sale at the Parish Office for $1.00 each.  This year’s raffle items include: First prize- Amish Quilt; Second prize – 4×6 handmade Washable hook rug; third prize – 58’ x 104” cross stitched tablecloth; fourth prize - $100.00 cash, fifth prize - $100.00 cash and many nice small raffle items.  The drawing will be held Sunday, September 19th at the Monastery.  You do not have to be present to win.  Tea, complete with sandwiches and sweets will be served.  Arts and crafts and baked goods including the Sister’s famous bread will also be available.  There will be door prizes throughout the day.  The Tea is open to the public and all are welcome!!       INQUIRY CLASS – will be offered this fall.  The class is especially for non-Catholics who have an interest in learning more about the beliefs and practices of the Catholic Church.  The class would also be helpful for adults who are not confirmed or those returning back to the church.  Please call the rectory at 774-0630 if you are interested in this class.

Bishop Sample invites all Catholic 6-8 graders to See to See; a one-day event at St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette.  The event will be Saturday, October 30, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. E.T.  The day will include keynote talks and great music by Cooper Ray.  There will be Mass with Bishop Sample, opportunities for prayer, Food and Fun!!!  The registration fee is $25.00 per person.  Please contact Maggie Schmidt at Faith Formation Office at 774-9970 or (906) 458-1680.  Registration deadline is September 29, 2010.  CATECHIST NEEDED For 8th grade, if you are interested please call the Faith Formation office at 774-9970.STUDENT BREAKFAST WILL BEGIN ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 9TH.

PICTORIAL BOOK – Our new pictorial book will not be in until the end of September or first part of October.  We will have an announcement in the bulletin when we receive them.

ST. MARY QUEEN OF PEACE SPONSORS MUSICAL REVIEW: “Juke Box Memories”St. Mary Queen of Peace Church in Kingsford is sponsoring a Musical Review entitled “Juke Box Memories”.  It will feature songs from the 50’s & 60’s of artists such as Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Ricky Nelson, Brenda Lee, Roy Orbison, The Everly Brothers and the “Girl Groups….  Just to name a few.  There will also be a few skits and novelty songs in the mix.  We had originally planned to re-create an old fashioned Malt Shop and serve food prior to the show, said Fr. Mike Woempner, but circumstances made it necessary to cancel that.  So now, the tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children, aged 12 and under.  Anyone who purchased tickets that included the meal will have their $5 refunded.  The show will be held at the Kingsford High School Auditorium.  The dates for the show are Sept. 10, 11 & 12th.  The times for the show are:  Friday and Saturday at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday at 2:00 p.m.  The ticket office will be open 45 minutes prior to the performances.  Tickets are available at the Parish Office, 600 Marquette Blvd in Kingsford or you may call at 906-774-6122 to make your reservations.
